Hi there! I'm Abii.

Here, I make mermaid tails. The process starts on paper--digital or physical--then transcends into full-on fabric forms of art.

About Me

What I Make

Here at AbiiTails, I specialize in a few things: digital concept art, mermaid tail rendering, and fabric tail production. Taking inspirations from things all around me, I approach each tail, concept and design with the chance to make something profound. These digital concepts can be kept as references for future tails, characters and projects, while physical tails allows merfolk like myself to experience the joy of mermaiding in the real world.

How it Started

I have always enjoyed art; there are childish scribbles from 2012 that I keep tucked away for safe keeping as a reminder of it.

In 2018, I realized that I could combine my two passions when I discovered the mermaid community, and I received my first Fin Fun in that same year. It was love at first swim; and when I found out that people were drawing their own tails to make into fabric and silicone, I realized that I absolutely needed to do just the same.

I o-fish-ally designed, printed and sewed my first fabric tail in December of 2019, and since then, I've made so much more.

In it for the Art

As an artist, I create with the goal to inspire, empower, and improve. Each combination of coloration, scales and patterns are curated to create the utmost unique story and personality a tail can hold. With every tail comes a new opportunity to make what was thought of as fiction into reality. I aim to bring as many of those fantastical merfolk stories to life as I can, as each tail from AbiiTails is so much more than just a tail.

Just as a book is only the cover for the story inside, so is a tail for the merfolk wearing it. A tail is only the beginning of someone's character, and I want to help mers realize just how much of a mermaid, merman, or merfolk they can be.

How it's Going

AbiiTails in the Future

Since making my first fabric tail, I've developed my skills in digital art, composition and sewing. Learning to create depth, texture and emotions within the tails I create has taken years of practice. While the road to mastery is ongoing, I've certainly improved greatly over the years--and I look forward to improving even more. I am committed to constantly pushing my boundaries of my art by exploring expression, detailing and fantasies fit for rivers, lakes and seas.

On days when I'm not studying, I'm continuing to dedicate my time to AbiiTails and my growth as an artist. Apparrel, Essence tails and more are all on the way, and I'm excited to see where it all goes.
